Numerology of the Cards

There are no assignments in Tarot Share, but there are suggestions. At yesterday's Tarot Share, we talked about an exercise to get more acquainted with the numerology of Tarot.

There are 22 Major Arcana. 21 have numbers on them. The Fool does not. He is 0. He weaves in and out wherever he wishes. The Fool is a card which joins the end to the beginning and, as Uranus, he certainly ends and begins things.

beginner's mind -- the cards according to you

On the first afternoon of Tarot Share, we each drew a card and interpreted or re-interpreted by intuition and reasoning, according to the image. One woman, new to Tarot, who'd only lately allowed herself to experience the cards, chose 3 of air.

In her vision of the meaning, she said -- This person is experiencing a new influx of enlightenment -- her world is expanding."

What a lovely thought for the card known as "pain".

TRY THIS:

1. If you have cards, shuffle the deck, draw a card, and read the image without -- or without using -- prior knowledge of what has been written about the card.

2. What emotions does the card stir? What memories? What plans? What hopes? What fears? Write a paragraph or a page in tribute to the card.

3. If there are figures in the card, people or animals, step inside the card and talk to them in meditation. What wisdom do they impart?
